About Irish Baroque Orchestra 


For the past 25 years the Irish Baroque Orchestra has occupied a special place in Ireland’s rich arts landscape. Their mission is to bring international-standard historically-informed performance (HIP) to audiences in Ireland and abroad, cultivating audience appreciation and deepening the understanding of Baroque and Classical music. Through its education work, IBO nurtures the next generation of professional period instrument players and stimulates interest in HIP for musicians of all ages. As 2022 Olivier Award winners for 'Outstanding Achievement in Opera,' further development of its profile now sees the IBO reaching expanding audiences overseas, building on successful tours to the UK and Croatia this year.


About the Development Officer role


The Irish Baroque Orchestra is now seeking to recruit a Development Officer who will vital role to play in building support for the IBO’s ambitious artistic and educational programming at a time of rapid transformational growth. You will work closely with, and report to the CEO to identify and capitalise on key opportunities for support in the areas of: philanthropic donations, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, recurring individual donations / management of Friends programme and legacy messaging development. To succeed In this role will you will have good teamwork and excellent communication skills combined with an eye for detail  and an imaginative and enthusiastic approach to fundraising and building a community of support around the IBO’s vibrant and exciting programme of activity. 


General Duties and Responsibilities 


The following are the general responsibilities attached to this role: 


- Communicating with and further developing the IBO’s community of Friends and Patrons. 

- Designing and implementing special supporters only events 

- Advocating confidently and charismatically for a range of artistic and educational projects.

- Preparing and submitting applications to Trusts and Foundations. 

- Designing and implementing fundraising campaigns linked to the IBO’s programme of events, to drive philanthropic support. 

- Supporting the stewardship of existing key donors and the prospecting of future supporters. 

- Designing relevant campaign materials/pitch documents as required. 

- Explore opportunities for corporate support and develop corresponding pitch documents, manage digital fundraising campaigns, achieve monthly and quarterly financial targets.

- Create and compose quarterly and monthly emails to existing donor base and high net worth individuals, ensuring supporters are updated on the work of IBO in a dynamic and creative way.

- Lead on maintaining and updating supporters’ lists on the website, in all print and associated materials as appropriate.


Key Skills and Competencies:


- Some prior experience in fundraising/development, preferably within an arts context, with outstanding organisational skills.

- Energetic and personable approach to team working, able to cultivate great working relationships with colleagues and a wide range of external partners.

- Proven ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously and work on own initiative. 

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

- Proficient computer usage.

- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage a complex workload with several work streams running concurrently.
