About our client

Shine is a national organisation providing information and support for people affected by mental health difficulties. It supports individuals and family members through individual and group work, and training and education led by professionals and peers. Shine works tirelessly to shape better policies and services for all those affected by mental ill health. It supports the rights of individuals and groups to enhance their recovery, promoted access to services, challenges negative attitudes and behaviours and delivers a variety of programmes and services. Shine is particularly proud to be the only national mental health organisation specifically founded to support all family members.

‘Shine’s mission is to promote individual and family recovery.’

About the role

Shine is now seeking to appoint three new Board Directors with skills, perspectives, and experience to complement those of current Board members and expand the Board’s capacity and capability to meet opportunities and challenges ahead. Please note, these are voluntary, unpaid positions. These are new roles on the Board as a result of required succession planning, changes to the constitution and the requirement for additional skills to support the execution of Shine’s Strategy.

The Board maintains an overview of policy and the strategic direction of Shine rather than being involved in the day-to-day operations. An initial priority for the new board members will be to add knowledgeable voices to the strategic discussions currently taking place around Shine’s strategy out to 2025 and beyond.

We are seeking applications from individual with experience and skills in the following areas:

• Finance / Governance

• IT / Technology

• Marketing / Branding

Previous Director experience would be a distinct advantage along with knowledge of the charity sector in particular mental health.
