About our client

The National Suicide Research Foundation is an independent, multi-disciplinary research unit that investigates the causes of suicide and self-harm in Ireland.  The purpose of the organisation is to conduct high quality academic research into suicide and self-harm with an aim of progressing and informing policy and practice.  Established in 1994, the mission of the NSRF is to provide a nationally and internationally recognised body of reliable knowledge from a multi-disciplinary perspective on the risk and protective factors associated with suicidal behaviour with an ultimate aim of providing solid evidence to inform policy development and intervention in the prevention of suicide and the management of patients presenting with self-harm.

The NSRF is now recruiting an experienced, driven Chief Executive Officer to lead and support its vibrant, dynamic team.

About the role

The primary role of the Chief Executive officer is to ensure that the organisation delivers on its strategic goals. The organisation has a reputation as a reliable, independent source of quality research relating to suicide and self-harm. The CEO’s role is to ensure that the NSRF retains that standing nationally and internationally and to grow the profile of the organisation even further.

To take on this exciting role, we are seeking a candidate with:

• Proven experience leading a team from diverse backgrounds towards a common purpose.

• Experience of business planning and strategy development.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills

• The ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.

• Experience seeking and negotiating new funding opportunities.

• Considerable academic knowledge and experience.

• An understanding of good governance principles

To succeed in this role, you will have the ability to manage a complex and varied workload with strong attention to detail and organisational skills. You will be an excellent communicator, representing the organisation nationally and internationally to a variety of stakeholders, and telling the story of the essential work the organisation undertakes. Experience of the Irish charity/NGO sector and an understanding of the mental health sector in Ireland, would be highly beneficial.

If you’re an established, strategic leader with a collaborative working style, academic understanding and experience, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, and the motivation and drive to bring the NSRF into the next phase of its development, we’d love to hear from you!
