Full Description

BACKGROUND: Ireland’s rivers, lakes, coastal waters and groundwater constitute a remarkable heritage and a rich network of resources. Their beauty and bounty have guaranteed pleasure and sustenance to people and wildlife for millennia and the Sustainable Water Network (SWAN) is committed to their protection.

SWAN is an umbrella network of twenty five of Ireland’s leading environmental non-governmental organisations (eNGOs) working together to protect Ireland’s waters by participating in the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD), Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and other water-related legislation. SWAN has both national and local members, representing a vast range of specialist and local knowledge and expertise in all areas of Ireland’s aquatic environment.

They are now seeking an experienced Administrator to join their passionate team.

THE ROLE: Reporting to the SWAN Coordinator, the Administrator will primarily be responsible for managing the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the SWAN office. Key responsibilities will include handling SWAN’s expenses, monthly accounts and payroll; supporting the Coordinator in ensuring best practice in relation to governance, financial reporting and data protection; and planning and managing meetings and other events.

This is a varied role which requires an experienced administrative professional who can show experience and ability in a range of areas including:

  • 5 years’ working in a similar role preferably within the not-for-profit sector
  • Numerical understanding and financial administration experience including processing invoices and payroll
  • A high standard of spoken and written English
  • The ability to develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders at a variety of levels
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements of a not-for-profit organisation (e.g. Governance Code, Charities Regulator, GDPR, SORP)
  • Experience organising events and meetings including managing schedules, liaising with venues, and booking accommodation

If you’re a dynamic administrator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise a busy workload, and an appreciation and understanding of environmental issues and the work of SWAN, this could be the role for you!
