Active Retirement Ireland (ARI) is a voluntary organisation for older people with a national membership of over 24,500 people and over 550 local associations. Founded in 1978 and currently organised into nine regional councils, the movement’s principal aim is to help men and women, who are retired or semi-retired, from paid or unpaid work, to lead a full, happy and healthy retirement by offering organised opportunities for a wide range of activities – holidays, outings and socials; creative and learning programmes; indoor and outdoor sports and community work. Members range in age from 50 -100+ years and cover a range of socio-economic backgrounds.
ARI promotes an independent attitude to ageing and challenges attitudes and perceptions of older people – in this rewarding role you will have the opportunity to work with a very active and vocal membership of older people.

• Develop an ongoing brand management strategy to ensure ARI brand identity is adhered to online and all legal requirements are met, while working towards accessibility and consistency in all content across a range of devices, communications and documents. • Monitor and assess of media coverage and conduct associated research and support the ongoing development of the organisation’s website, including the development of new content and design. • Support the CEO to carry out the public affairs activities of the organisation in terms of engaging with government officials, public representatives, and other key stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have:
• 3rd level qualification in a relevant field • At least 2 year’s previous experience working in a communications and media or advocacy role and demonstrable experience in the Irish political system • Be an exceptional communicator who thrives on working to reach targets and effect change • As this role could largely be based from home, you will have demonstrable administrative experience and proven organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload.
If you’re a natural communicator and organiser with a collaborative work ethic who can juggle multiple tasks and deadlines whilst paying close attention to detail, then this could be the role for you!
