The Irish Cancer Society is leading the movement for change and improvement in health policy, services and supports that affect cancer patients. Working in collaboration with Government, health professionals, communities and others, their staff are driven by a desire to make the experience of cancer a less forbidding one for the almost 40,000 people learning of a cancer diagnosis every year, and ultimately to stop cancer.

By investing in cancer research and providing care and support to people affected by cancer, the Irish Cancer Society is stopping cancer in its tracks. Through ongoing research, they are constantly improving their knowledge on how to diagnose, treat and stop cancer before its starts. By providing information, advice and support they are supporting people through their cancer experience and helping to reduce the fear of a cancer diagnosis.

The Role

The Irish Cancer Society are now seeking a Community Fundraiser (Leinster North). The Community Fundraiser will be responsible for the coordination of community fundraising activities in the Leinster North Region (Dublin North, Kildare, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath) to deliver budgets, targets and income in line with national and regional plans and strategies.

The successful candidate will drive, support and facilitate the development of the volunteer networks and fundraising groups across the region. They will ensure the development and delivery of local fundraising plans and activities and national campaigns (Cups Against Breast Cancer, Daffodil Day and Relay for Life) and promote awareness of the Irish Cancer Society’s work in assigned communities.

In order to succeed in this role, the Community Fundraiser will ideally possess excellent communication and presentation skills and strong empathy with and compassion for the Society’s volunteers and supporters, and a passion for putting them first.

Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness.

All of our children are living with life-threatening medical conditions and their lives are turned upside down as the focus is on hospital visits, injections, treatment and the illness. Make-A-Wish believes that every child deserves to be happy and by taking their one true wish and transforming it into reality, happy memories are created for not only the wish child but their loved ones.

Since 1992, Make-A-Wish has granted wishes for more than 2,350 brave children across Ireland, including 211 wishes granted in 2018 alone.

Make-A-Wish are now seeking to recruit a Community Fundraiser to join their passionate and enthusiastic team! Please note this is a fixed term, maternity contract for 10 months. THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the Community Fundraiser will be a part of a team of two. They will be responsible for managing Make-A-Wish community fundraising events and projects and will play a key role within the fundraising department and charity as a whole. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and vibrant fundraising team. The successful candidate will play an important role in bringing in vital funding to help grant special wishes to children who truly deserve it and ensure we achieve our exciting ambitions.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in sales/business development/account management
  • Ability to build relationships, generate income and manage events
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • A positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Passion for the work of Make-A-Wish and the impact it makes on the lives of sick children and their families
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a car.

To succeed in this role you will be an energetic and approachable person who can maintain relationships with external supporters. Fundraising experience within the charity sector would be an advantage but is not essential.
