Founded in 1995, The Ark is a dedicated cultural centre for children born of a deeply held belief in children’s right to art and culture as equal citizens within our society. That radical vision was informed by the principle that all children have the right to artistic and cultural participation just as they have a right to play. The Ark’s mission is to create opportunities for all children to love and discover art as a fundamental part of their childhood. Based in their architecturally award-winning home in the heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar, The Ark commissions, produces and presents work for, by and about children from the ages of two to twelve years old. On an annual basis, up to 30,000 children and adults attend programmes at The Ark which include professional development training for teachers and artists.
As a participant in RAISE Accelerate, an Arts Council initiative designed to build arts organisations’ capacity to generate significant new private investment, The Ark is now seeking a part-time Development Officer.
The Development Officer will work closely with The Ark’s Director, Development & Advocacy Manager and the rest of The Ark team. The role will focus on stewarding existing public, corporate and individual supporters; researching and writing grant applications; and contributing to our digital fundraising campaigns. This person will have an affinity for the vision, mission, and values of The Ark, they will be an effective fundraiser and will build on any previous experience within the cultural sector for children.
To succeed in this role, you will be a self-motivated, creative, strategic thinker with strong communication, writing and relationship management skills. You will be comfortable researching new opportunities, drafting grant applications and report writing. The successful candidate will maintain and build upon donor engagement through effective communication and will give creative support to new digital and fundraising campaigns. If you are a creative, strategic forward-thinker with excellent relationship building skills, a passion for the values of The Ark, and are eager to grow your fundraising experience, this could be the role for you!
