BACKGROUND: The Down Syndrome Centre opened in 2014 with the aim of addressing the increased cuts and lack of accessibility to relevant services for children with Down syndrome. Its mission is to provide services and facilities to enable children with Down syndrome to have the same opportunities in life as their peers, to feel included in society and to enable them to reach their full potential. It supports over 200 families per week by providing a wide range of early intervention services including SKIP (Special Kids Intervention Programme) and Team 21 Tots and vital services such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.

They are now seeking an experienced, creative Fundraising Manager to join their dedicated team.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a major gifts strategy, and maximising income from individuals and trusts and foundations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for introducing new fundraising campaigns and initiatives in order to enhance the sustainability of the organisation as well as project managing some of the organisation’s existing projects.

This is a varied role which requires a dynamic, passionate fundraiser who can show ability in a range of areas including:

  • 5 years’ previous experience working in a fundraising environment
  • Experience setting and managing budgets and meeting financial targets
  • Experience building compelling cases for support enabling a financial ‘ask’ to secure income
  • A proven track record of approaching and cultivating donors across a range of disciplines
  • Previous experience taking lead on introducing and driving forward new fundraising initiatives and projects
  • Experience researching, identifying and making successful grant applications to trusts and foundations
  • Proven ability writing persuasive, inspiring applications and compiling informative impact reports
  • Experience creating and implementing Direct Marketing campaigns

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the success and development of a busy, front-line charity making a real difference to the lives of children with Down syndrome and their families.
