Background:

Established in 1993, the Irish Association for Palliative Care (IAPC) is a multi-disciplinary membership organisation which promotes palliative care nationally and internationally. The membership of the IAPC reflects the entire spectrum of all those who work in or have a professional interest in the provision of palliative care i.e. doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains and pastoral carers, pharmacists, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and dieticians, as well as executive staff, academics and educationalists.

The IAPC is the primary collective and expert voice for palliative care in Ireland and exists to promote palliative care through opportunities for networking, education, publications and representation on national bodies.

The Role: The IAPC is now seeking a highly motivated, results-driven General Manager with the ability to multi-task, work flexibly and with initiative.

Reporting to the Board, the General Manager will maintain and enhance the reputation, profile and efficacy of the IAPC through relationship management and effective marketing and communications activities.

This role is an important appointment that is essential to the smooth running of the IAPC’s work. You will develop processes and systems so the organisation is more efficient and ensure it is compliant and effective. It will be a busy and varied role, requiring strong attention to detail and you’ll need to able to work efficiently and balance multiple priorities.

The successful candidate will have a strong ability to think strategically and plan for the medium and long term as well as on a day-to-day basis. You are likely to have significant operational management and administrative experience within a charity environment.
