BACKGROUND

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services (OLH&CS) is one of Ireland’s most respected and well-established providers of specialist palliative and elderly care. With over 700 staff and 400 volunteers, OLH&CS delivers person-centred services across three sites in Harold’s Cross, Blackrock, and Wicklow. Fundraising plays a vital role in enabling the organisation to enhance services, support patients and families, and invest in key capital developments.

The fundraising and communications functions have seen strong strategic growth in recent years, including the development of major donor programmes, D2D fundraising, and impactful media work such as Inside the Hospice (Virgin Media, 2023). With a new organisational strategy (2025–2030) launching this summer, OLH&CS is now seeking a visionary leader to take these functions to the next level.

THE ROLE

This is a senior and highly visible leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Executive Management Team. The Director will lead a team of 12 and hold responsibility for delivering an integrated fundraising and communications strategy to meet ambitious income, profile, and engagement goals. Key priorities include sustaining and growing annual income of over €6.3 million, progressing a legacy programme, deepening donor relationships, and increasing public awareness.

The successful candidate will oversee major events such as Light Up A Life, drive strategic donor engagement, and build strong partnerships across stakeholders—from senior clinical staff to the Board and external media. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, values-led professional to play a key role in shaping the future of hospice care in Ireland.

We are seeking a confident and collaborative leader with a proven track record in strategic fundraising and communications, ideally gained in a complex not-for-profit environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience in major gifts, donor stewardship, and campaign delivery, along with strong people management skills and excellent written and verbal communication. Resilient, results-driven, and values-aligned, they will be excited by the opportunity to deliver meaningful impact through their work.
