LOCATION:  Swords, Co. Dublin. There may be an opportunity to work from home for 1 - 2 days per week - this will be determined by the needs of the organisation and agreed with the Board.

SALARY:  €80,000 - €100,000

CONTRACT:  Full-time, permanent.

 

BACKGROUND 

Culture House will be a landmark cultural destination and a meeting house for everyone, a place where creativity, learning, artistic expression and community life come together under one roof. Conceived by Fingal County Council as the centrepiece of the Swords Cultural Quarter, it is being developed as an inclusive and accessible civic space that reflects both the rich heritage of Fingal and the ambition of a modern, growing county. Culture House CLG will oversee and manage the operation of Culture House, providing governance, strategic leadership and stewardship of the venue in partnership with Fingal County Council to ensure its long-term success as a vibrant cultural destination. 

At the heart of the vision is a belief that culture belongs to everyone. Culture House will be more than a building; it will be a vibrant cultural ecosystem where artists, makers, performers, learners, community organisations and visitors can meet, collaborate and create. Bringing together a county library and archive, theatre, gallery, café, maker spaces, creative studios and social spaces, it will offer opportunities for participation, discovery, creativity and artistic excellence in a single welcoming destination. 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The inaugural Executive Director will provide the artistic, strategic, operational and financial leadership required to bring Culture House from development into successful operation. Reporting to the Board and working closely with Fingal County Council and other partners, they will shape the organisation’s identity and programme, build its team, systems and partnerships, and establish a sustainable operating model. The role will also include oversight of the refurbished Carnegie Library building as an additional space for cultural, artistic, educational and community activity. 

The successful candidate will be an experienced cultural leader with significant senior-level experience in the arts and cultural sector. They will combine strong artistic judgement with organisational, operational and commercial acumen, and will be able to build trusted relationships with artists, communities, funders, public bodies and cultural partners.
